A couple of weeks ago, Deanna and I ate dinner with a couple that serves in our middle school ministry. They are a great family, the husband told me about a show he really loved. the show is called, Man vs. Wild. Click here is a link for an explanation from Wikipedia. The show is hosted by Bear Grylls. I have become an avid fan. I actually DVR the show and watch it each time. below are two links about the show being staged/fake. I can’t believe this…I am really hoping that this is not true!!!
‘WILD’ STORM: REALITY SURVIVAL SHOW FAKED
If the show is fake or parts of it are fake…was it fake when Bear drank his own urine to stay hydrated?? Don’t believe me…check it out here. (I would embed the video but I don’t know how. Any suggestions?) Check it out below. (A HUGE shout to Sean Gaffney for helping a computer idiot such as myself!)
Does anyone else ever watch this show? Let me know and if so what are your thoughts?

Bear Grylls =the love child of Chuck Norris and Superman. I’m pretty sure he’s bulletproof

I too enjoy the show, but we all must remember that you can’t believe everything you see on TV. I think one of the things no matter if these allegations are proven false is:
A. The fact that he is with at least two camera guys so he never has that true solitude that you would have if you were truly lost on your own.
B. He always has the assurance that he will be rescued and therefore he is not in a life or death situation.
Besides these two small caveats I find the show interesting to watch.

Alden,
I love the show! However, I noticed a couple of months ago that Bear was wearing a life jacket under his jacket while floating down some rapids…needless to say I was a little disappointed at my discovery. He is still the stinkin’ man!

Will,
You bring up some great points and with those being fact…How do we still find it interesting to watch? With those two points, doesn’t it make the show seem irrelevant? I am not sure…but I still love to watch the show and enjoy watching him do some stupid/crazy stuff. Personally, I think that is why so many people (men) watch the show and we can vicariously watch/dream that we were able to do the things that Bear does on the show. Maybe? Maybe not?

Philip,
Welcome to AldenEllis.com. It is awesome to connect with another Middle School Pastor in South Carolina. There are not many Middle School CRAZIES in the Palmetto State. We should connect sometime…I am coming through Columbia on my way back to Anderson on Friday…Let me know.
Back to the discussion…I noticed the same incident while he was floating down the rapids of in the Rockies…and I agree that he is still the man!

I love that show, but I enjoy Survivorman more. Les Stroud doesn’t have a camera crew so he has to film the show himself, making life even more difficult. Both shows are great though. I do recommend you recording Survivorman. If you like Man Vs. Wild, you’ll enjoy it too.
