Students in Wilmington, NC will be impacted

Yesterday, Brad and I got to start the morning off by hanging out with Dave Holt from Lifepoint Church in Wilmington, NC. It was an awesome time to just hang out with him and he asked a bunch of questions.  The worst part of the meeting was that we only got to spend an hour with him.  I was looking forward to asking him some questions and hear about some of the things that are happening in their neck of the woods.  He told me he was going to be back for UNLEASH in March, so maybe I will be able to catch up with him during that time! Let me know Dave!
I always enjoy getting to hang out with other student ministry peeps from other churches.  Each time I get asked a question, it ALWAYS challenges me.  It challenges me to fully know what I believe in, what I think, and why we do what we do.

After hanging out with Dave, I can say a couple of things:

  • Dave has a heart for JESUS,
  • Dave has a heart for students,
  • Dave has a heart for the local church,
  • Students of Wilmington, NC will be impacted,
  • Lifepoint has a great guy leading their student ministry,
  • Lifepoint is going to grow and they will grow fast!

Dave, thanks for the opportunity to hang out with you and get to know you!  Look forward to hanging out with you in March and some other times in the future!

Confident or Arrogant?

I wonder if Travis McCoy, lead man for Gym Class Heroes, is being confident or arrogant? Check out the link and decide for yourself: Lyrical Genius? Maybe a little of both…maybe a little more arrogance…maybe a little more confident.  He sure is jacked up about his new album…

A view from on HIGH…

Back in November, I had an amazing opportunity to go flying with an awesome man named Baron Cooley who attends NewSpring. He told me that I could bring a friend, so David Hall tagged along for the ride. I will be honest and say that I was extremely excited about this opportunity. I have been flying before, but only on a commercial flight, nothing close to what I was going to experience.

Before we boarded the plane, we went through all the pre-flight checks, well…actually, I just watched and was wondering what in the world was going on! I was glad that all the checks were made and everything seemed to be great! We boarded the plane and taxied to the runway. We hit the gas and off we went. We flew around all around Anderson. Some of the places that we saw from overhead were: Hartwell Lake, Portman Marina, I-85, David’s Parent’s Home, Brookstone Meadows Golf Course, NewSpring Church, McCants Middle School, My House, Anderson University, Anderson Mall, Downtown Anderson, and many other places.

The thing that really made me think the perspective that I had. For the first time ever, I was ABOVE my normal environment. I am used to moving around IN my environment. It did not think about being above my environment, looking down as people were moving around in the hustle and bustle. It really made a mark on me as we flew past Interstate 85. The cars and trucks looked to be moving really slow. So many times, we move around so fast that we do not take in all that is going around us. I know that I do not appreciate where God has placed me. I know that I think that I have to move faster and faster. I know that I think that there is no time to slow down.

While I was in the air, just enjoying myself and really taking in the fact that I was actually able to be flying, I was struck with a verse. Psalm 46:10, ” Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations,I will be exalted in the earth!” I need to take some time, instead of running around all the time, to just be still…to appreciate where God has placed me, to thank God for what He has done in my life, and to thank God for the opportunities I have to serve him. Simply put, I just need to slow down!

Honestly, it was one of the coolest experiences…it was so awesome to fly around Anderson. Here are some random pictures from the trip.

Be there!!!

Tomorrow at NewSpring is going to be amazing!  We are celebrating the Lord’s Supper as a part of our Crank It Up Series.  Each time I am part of this type of service the Lord always seems to mess me up!  I always look forward to to each time.  Matter of fact, this is one of the oldest and most powerful worship experiences.  The fact that this is 2000 or so years old and it is still celebrated is really awesome!!!  Be sure to take time to be at one of the four services tomorrow (9:15AM, 11:15AM, 5:00PM, 6:45PM)!

You will be blessed!  I know that the Lord is going to move in some amazing ways!  See you there!

GAMETIME Update from the ROOFTOP…

Needless to say, I am very excited about the construction that is getting ready to happen on the grounds of NewSpring Church. Back in October, we launched a capital campaign called GAMETIME.

Here are two pictures of the outline of the buildings that will be built on our Anderson Campus. Thanks to Sherry Moorhead for the first and Will Rodes for the second!

Click on the picture for a closer look.

It is so excited to think how God has blessed us to be able to do this MASSIVE project as people come together and “forcefully advance the kingdom.” As Perry said on Sunday, “So many people stepped up and said, ‘You are not doing this by yourself Pastor P,’ We are coming together to handle this…”

It is going to be awesome to see how God uses these buildings to reach the children, students, and families of the Anderson area!! Be sure to check out the Gametime Blog for further updates on the progress of the Anderson Campus and on all the other things we will be doing (Greenville Campus, foreign missions, and local missions)!

They have EVERYTHING!

Wal-Mart. Low Prices. Supermarket. Groceries. Clothes. Pets (Fish). Medicine. Furniture. Toys. Car Repair. Garden Supplies. General House Supplies. Smiley Face :) that is rolling back prices all over the store. They have it all! If you need something and you are not quite sure where to get it, then all you need to do it go to Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart will more than likely have what you are looking for or the generic equivalent to the product. Matter of fact, they even say that you will “Save Money. Live Better.” by shopping at Wal-Mart.

I have to concede that they have a lot of stuff in their store, but their stores sometimes really frustrated the heck of of me. You can go to any Wal-Mart and their is always a TON of people there no matter what time it is, but for some reason they only have 5% of their check-out machines open. Why have all those check out machines if you are not going to have people to run them? Just wondering!

Anyways, that is not the reason for my post…the reason for my post is that I never thought I would find this in Wal-Mart!

Jesus for only $14.95 Jesus and David

So…go to your local Wal-Mart and get your toy Jesus for the low, low, price of $14.97!!! Not only do they have Jesus, but they also have David, Sampson, Noah, and Moses!  I don’t know they may be collectibles…

Heavy Load Coming Through….

I have burned I-85 between Greenville and Anderson many, many times!  Well, the other day, Andrew Sentell and I were on our way from a meeting with a volunteer. By the way, we ate at Smoke on the Water.  It was a great casual restaurant that had very good barbecue.  I was not very sure about it at first, but I was pleased with the tastiness of the food and the price of it as well.  If you are in the West End District, be sure to check it out!!

Anyways, I saw this HEAVY LOAD being transported, it had to be the largest Dump Truck I have ever seen:

Dump Truck      Dump Truck2

Okay, maybe not, but I thought that this was hilarious and wanted to share it with others!!  Yes, that is a TONKA Dump Truck on the back of a flatbed 18-Wheeler!  The driver had it ratcheted down and everything!
