Night before…

Do you know the feeling that you get the night before something big is going to happen?  Do you know the feeling of anticipation you feel before a big day?

Well, that is the feeling that I have right now!!  I am getting ready to try to venture into LALA-Land, but I think it is going to be a struggle.  I am so EXCITED about tomorrow. I will be traveling to Columbia for the FIRST time as the Columbia Campus Pastor. My sole purpose tomorrow will be scouting out a location.  I have my eyes on a specific location and I am jazzed about it.

All NewSpringers and people who love what NewSpring is all about – PRAY HARD!!  PRAY BOLDLY!!  ASK FOR FAVOR!! ASK FOR BLESSING!!  Do it right now, do it tomorrow, and don’t stop.  May God move in the hearts of those who are in charge of the place that they may have favor on us!!  I will let you know something as soon as we have something set in stone!

Location is the first domino that needs to fall!!!  I pray that domino tumbles down tomorrow!!Also I get to hang out with one of my buds from college who is JAZZED about being apart of the NewSpring Columbia Campus.  He is going to joining me on the journey tomorrow!!! This is going to be a blast!

Let’s STOMP IT!!!

NewSpring Columbia

Today was the beginning of a lot of conversations about the whos, the whats, the when, and the hows of the Columbia Campus.  It was a great meeting with Jason Wilson, our Executive Pastor at NewSpring.  You would typically think that there would be a lot talk about the things mentioned earlier and although we talked about those things…the better part of us talking was centered around Jason asking about my personal feelings and thoughts. Jason asked about my family, my thoughts on the personal transition my wife would be making and so much more. Jason made it very clear that he is and will be concerned about me as a person, not just because I was the campus pastor.  It was so awesome to be able to experience that care from my boss.  I am looking forward to many more conversations with him about the future of the campus.

Thanks Jason!!

Just to update those who are interested, I am activiely pursuring a location in the Columbia area.  I am hoping to be in Columbia on Thursday to have some conversations and to tour some potential places.  Please be in prayer that God will make it very clear where we are to be for our services.  There is much more to come…it is only going to get crazier!!  Let’s do it!!

So much to do & I love it!!

WOW!! This has been one of those weeks!  One of those weeks when you feel so over your head that you do not feel like you should be doing what you are doing.

Right now, I am in a weird place of pulling double duty…I currently and serving as the Associate Greenville Campus Pastor and Columbia Campus Pastor.   Yeah!!  Isn’t that crazy and…yes it is, but I am loving it.  I currently have so much to do in both jobs and it is FORCING me to manage my time closely and delegate ferociously…which is a GREAT thing to do!!

It is crazy to think about all the changes that are coming down the pipe, but I so grateful to know that I am NOT doing it alone, so many people have offered encouragement through so many different mediums (test, blog posts, phone calls, tweets, emails, and face to face conversations).  I know that there have been so many people that are getting excited about what we are going to be doing in Columbia.  I have appreciated the many blog posts.  I am glad those guys are on my team!!

Anyway, thank you for the prayers…keep them coming!!

It is a BOY!!

Yesterday, Deanna and I went to the doctor for our second ultrasound for our baby.  This is also the appointment where we can find out the gender of our baby.

The ultrasound went GREAT!!  We got great news on the development of our baby, there were no signs of abnormalities or anything.  We also found out that our little baby is going to be a BOY!!  He cooperated enough for us to get a good look and his heart, head, feet, hands, everything!  We are so super excited.

His name is Bryce Alden Ellis.

You can click here if you would like to see a quick video of Bryce moving around.

Here are a couple of pictures they we able to take…

Continued Firsts….

Today Deanna and I go to the doctor to find out the gender of our baby!!  I am so excited!!  The only bad part about this whole thing is that I have to wait until the end of the day and I am supposed to accomplish a lot today! I might be useless today because I will be so excited.

So here is the deal…I want to run a little poll!  Got to the comments section of this post and let me know what your prediction is our little baby’s gender…Only 2 options: Boy or Girl!!

If you are on facebook….jump on over to www.aldenellis.com and leave a comment!!

God of this City

One of the songs that I love is “God of this City” written by Bluetree and made popular by Chris Tomlin.  This song always hits a chord with my heart!  It gets my mind rolling and my spirit stirring thinking about all that God desires to do in the cities across the world.  Every time I hear that song, I immediately think of certain cities: Anderson, Greenville, Florence, Columbia, and wherever God leads NewSpring to start a campus!

With that being said, Deanna and I have really been praying about where  God is leading us as a couple over the past month. We have always desired to stay in step with God and His will for our lives.  Of course, we have the blessed transition of becoming parents in early June, but we also have another transition that we are excited about.

Deanna and I have accepted the calling for me to serve as the Campus Pastor for NewSpring Church‘s Columbia Campus.  We are very excited and looking forward to the birth of our child and to the birth of a campus.

We will be working very hard over the next couple of months to assemble a core launch team, assemble a staff, find a location for our services, ironing out logistics, recruiting volunteers, and praying very hard for the thousands of people who will meet Jesus because of what God is doing through NewSpring Church.  We would appreciate your prayers for wisdom and guidance!!

Columbia…Get ready!!!  It is going to be an amazing ride!  As the song says,

Greater things have yet to come, And greater things are still to be done in this City, Greater things have yet to come, And greater things are still to be done here.

We are looking forward to this awesome challenge and to meeting all the people who will be apart of this campus.  If this is something that you are interested in, please take the time to email us at columbia@newspring.cc and let us know of your interest. Check back often, as I will be updating about our journey and letting people in on some of the exciting news as God reveals it to us!!

Let’s STOMP it!!
