One of the songs that I love is “God of this City” written by Bluetree and made popular by Chris Tomlin. This song always hits a chord with my heart! It gets my mind rolling and my spirit stirring thinking about all that God desires to do in the cities across the world. Every time I hear that song, I immediately think of certain cities: Anderson, Greenville, Florence, Columbia, and wherever God leads NewSpring to start a campus!
With that being said, Deanna and I have really been praying about where God is leading us as a couple over the past month. We have always desired to stay in step with God and His will for our lives. Of course, we have the blessed transition of becoming parents in early June, but we also have another transition that we are excited about.
Deanna and I have accepted the calling for me to serve as the Campus Pastor for NewSpring Church’s Columbia Campus. We are very excited and looking forward to the birth of our child and to the birth of a campus.
We will be working very hard over the next couple of months to assemble a core launch team, assemble a staff, find a location for our services, ironing out logistics, recruiting volunteers, and praying very hard for the thousands of people who will meet Jesus because of what God is doing through NewSpring Church. We would appreciate your prayers for wisdom and guidance!!
Columbia…Get ready!!! It is going to be an amazing ride! As the song says,
Greater things have yet to come, And greater things are still to be done in this City, Greater things have yet to come, And greater things are still to be done here.
We are looking forward to this awesome challenge and to meeting all the people who will be apart of this campus. When the announcment first came out about Columbia, Randall and I thought you and Deanna would be heading that way. I know Columbia Newspring will be great because you both love Jesus, listen to Jesus, and have the Newspring passion! but after all that is said… you cant throw a die hard Clemson fan into Gamecock territory! I made several (half kidding) jokes to randall about us packing up and moving to work with Gamecock kids at Newspring Columbia. We will pray for you, Deanna, and baby Ellis.
