Claim it…
Sometimes, we go through stuff…BUT we always know Jesus is in control, so with that being said…I claim it!!
Luke 21:10-19, “Then he said to them: ‘Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven, but before all this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name. This will result in your being witnesses to them. But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. All men will hate you because of me. But not a hair of your head will perish. By standing firm you will gain life.’“
NewSpring Kenya Trip
Today, there is a group of 48 people who will be leaving to serve in Kenya! I am so pumped for this group and it is my prayer that God will protect them as they travel, but will also wreck them as they serve.
Jump over to Dave Nimmons’ blog to get a full detail of what they will be doing while in Kenya. You can also see who is going, so you can pray for them by name.
Lastly, in the list of people you notice that there are people going from Anderson, Florence, and Greenville. I can’t wait till we have some folks from our Columbia Campus join in on future trips. You can go to the NewSpring website for details on future Kenya trips, but here is a list of the future trips coming up in 2010:
- February 4-13, 2010
- May 20-29, 2010 (medical/dental focus)
- June 10-19, 2010
- August 19-28, 2010
- November 18-27, 2010
Love you guys!! Praying for you!
Check out the video below of what the NewSpring Medical Mission Team is doing to serve the people of Kenya. Please be aware that it is graphic and will break your heart!!
I received an email from one of our Greenville Campus Volunteers, her name is Erin Woods, telling a story about how God places us at the right place and the right time for a purpose. I thought it was awesome, so check it out below!
On Sunday, I always go to Earth Fare after church. While in Earth Fare - I ran into Tara from Biggest Loser this season - basically, I just wanted to say “Hi” and that she’s doing great & offer some encouragement. Well - little did I know - that wasn’t the plan. After about 10 - 15 minutes later & tears shed along w/us talking about God, I was asking her to hold my coffee (yes - I always love going into Earth Fare for the free samples of stuff including their coffee!!) and pulling out a “Free Coffee” coupon for NewSpring (go figure :)) and telling her that she had to come to the 6:00 service tonight - it’s what she needed. Her mom then showed up from around the corner & got to talk some more & also giving her a card for a coffee. I wrote down my name & number on the back of the card I gave her & told her I’d leave it up to her but she could call me & I’d go back w/her tonight if she wanted - I’d love too! (There’s been occasions when I have gone back to church before to meet someone so this wasn’t strange for me). She never called but I wasn’t expecting it - in fact, I thought that was it! While I was talking w/her, I remember thinking — Why is this happening God & what do you want me to do here b/c the conversation was totally out of the normal?! He led me to do what was done & I thought I did my part - God is always at work. I was really excited & called Heather - got to share w/her about what happened. Well - guess what??? She ended up coming to the 6:00 service w/her mom and Amy from last season and sat right behind Heather!!! Whoa - that’s pretty cool…….but that’s not even the coolest part. The message was on the Gospel & from Matthew 7 and I knew that our pastor Perry was going to give an invitation at the end for those that needed to make Jesus their Savior & Lord of their life. Now, that would be just too crazy for all that to take place, right? Heck no!!!!!!! Tara stood up @ the end of the service & gave her life to Christ & Heather got to hear her say it out loud!! I mean to tell you - their isn’t anything that is not possible of God when we partner w/Him & listen to His promptings in our lives! I wanted to tell you guys b/c I shared w/everyone that I have been praying for opportunities to share w/people since reading our last book “Becoming a Contagious Christian”. So, He’s answered my prayers in more ways than one & really hope and pray that this is just the beginning b/c I had the best high I have ever had after hearing what happened Sunday evening - when we allow God to actually use us for His great purposes…nothing is too big for Him or out of His reach!!!! And as I am reading thru the Bible again - I realize - God isn’t “normal” and Jesus did, does & will do the craziest & coolest things ever done on this earth!! All for the love of Jesus!
Erin, thank you for your obedience in listening to the Lord and His promptings in your life!! Also I appreciate you sharing this story with me…it has definitely encouraged me and many others!!
15 days
In 15 days, there will be over 2500 leaders from all over the country that will converge on to the Anderson Campus of NewSpring Church. We will see senior pastors, worship leaders, student pastors, volunteers, paid staff, unpaid staff, etc. all come to learn what in the world has been happening at NewSpring Church. It is crazy to think that this conference is SOLD OUT!! Let me tell you, our Senior Pastor Perry Noble, is STOKED!! He will bring the heat…
We will have our new student building open and that place is the jam! You will need to stop by and check it out, by the way, that will be one of the venues that we use, so if you want a feel for how we do multi-site…that will be the ticket!!
I am excited about being able to connect with some of the leaders. Are you registered for Unleash? If so, let me know, I would love to be able to meet you!! Drop me a line through facebook, twitter, or my contact page.
See you there!!
God has been teaching me a lot lately. I have been able to learn with a team, tell others what I have been learning and so on, but I just wanted to share. The great thing about what I have been learning is that God has given me so many opportunities to put it in to practice. Needless to say, I believe what I have been learning is something that you need to learn. So with that in mind, watch the video below and learn!!

2008…A Great Year!!
2008 was a year filled with some crazy awesome things. Here is a list of things, in chronological order, that I was able to be a part of while serving at NewSpring Church:
- C3 – February 21-23, 2008: It was great to travel to Fellowship Church in Texas to be able to watch Perry teach at C3. He freaking rocked the house…he had the place rolling and then would throw in a HUGE nugget of truth that was out of this world!
- Unleash – March 12, 2008: This was a whole lot of fun! I got to co-teach the Student Ministry session with BCoop. Little did I know that I would be transitioning out of Student Ministry within the next month!
- Transition to Care Pastor – April 7, 2008: Began to serve with Jake Beaty, Pastor of Care and Outreach. I learned a whole lot about taking care of people. This was a huge jump for me and I learned so much. It was great working with the Care Staff and having the opportunity to lead and learn. This was a great time of stretching in ministry and I believed prepared me for future ministry roles, especially one I would take on in October.
- Gauntlet – July 13-18, 2008 & July 20-25, 2008: I am not sure words can describe how I feel about our summer trip. I pulled double duty for a little while when I moved to Care ministry. I still was able to help to plan and execute the Gauntlet. This year was HUGE…we took the middle school and high school on separate weeks because we had so many students. This was my third and final year to be a part of the Gauntlet and I loved it!!
- Baptism – October 4, 2008: We baptized over 450 people and it was crazy. We had 3 pools and 6 pastors baptizing and the parking lots full of cars and a whole lot of tailgating happening! It was a beast to organize…my wife and I along with Jake and Suzanne Beaty and Jaime Salmon camped out that night at the church…but it was so rewarding and a HUGE blessing to be a part of!!
- Catalyst – October 9-10, 2008: Got to attend with Jake Beaty and this conference did not disappoint…I wrote about it here. Some words to describe: Matt Chandler, Andy Stanley, Steven Furtick, Dave Ramsey, Fogo de Chao, Craig Groeschel, Jim Collins…what else needs to be said…Seriously it was probably the best conference that I have been to!!
- Transition to Greenville Associate Campus Pastor – October 27, 2008: This came out of left field for me. Prior to this, I was going over to Greenville Campus once a week to help out with counseling sessions and meeting with people. I got asked if this was something that I would be willing to do and of course I said yes. This has been a awesome to get to gel with the Greenville Staff and to serve under Howard Frist. This guy loves Jesus, loves NewSpring, and loves Greenville…he is all about seeing people have life change occur!!
- Columbia Announcement – December 11, 2008: Perry announced that we going to launch this campus in 2009! I was so pumped!! I love that our church is not willing to sit on the sidelines and be okay with people dying and going to hell. We will do something about it! I can’t wait to see what happens in Columbia…there is going to be a lot of life change happening in that place.
- Show Giveaway – December 17, 2008: I got to organize the giveaway for Grove Elementary in Greenville. Simply put, it was freaking amazing. We used 2 charter buses to transport 73 volunteers to minster to 70+ teachers and 620+ students. It was so much fun watching our volunteers love on those students!! We are still receiving thank you notes in the mail!!!
2008 is has been awesome…2009 - “The best has yet to come!”
For all you NewSpringers out there….What was your favorite moment of 2008??
